Voice of Heaven

Founded in 2013, Voice of Heaven choir is a Lebanese choir that aims to create a space for youth to improve their music skills, and spread joy through singing. It originally started with sacred hymns and songs, and then expanded its work to include traditional Lebanese and Arabic songs. The choir life includes weekly rehearsals, reunions, camps, workshops, family gatherings and outings, charity and humanitarian events. Voice of Heaven is currently composed of 60 members. It organized and participated in more than 60 concerts throughout these years, in different regions all over Lebanon. It represented the Middle East in the World Youth Days held in Panamá in January 2019, participated in the Choral Ethno Crossroads in Cyprus in July 2019, and had artistic collaborations through concerts and workshops with well-known Lebanese artists such as Oussama Rahbani, Hiba Tawaji, Ghadi Rahbani, Nader Khoury, Simon Obeid, Aline Lahoud, Bruno Tabbal, Mike Massy and others. What differentiates this choir is its ability to sing a variety of music styles, and in different languages (Arabic, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Syriac, Latin, Greek…)

Georges Chaaya, born in 1988 in Lebanon, is an engineer, computer scientist, and currently an instructor at Notre Dame University and Saint Charbel School. He was part of different choirs, organizations, and youth groups, such as JMJ, GMLK, Pastoral Work, MEJ... He organized different seminars and workshops for the youth since 2003. He started leading his hometown church choir in 2007, then founded and was a lead singer in the “New Generation Band” from 2011 to 2014. He has an experience in writing, acting (acted in different theater plays and was part of JMJ theater group from 2010 to 2017), and he composed many songs for the choir; he was also a TV presenter at Mariam TV where he presented two social and cultural shows, among other events and special episodes. He took courses in solfeggio, music theory, harmony and classical singing, sang in public events, and received many certificates of merit from different organizations, such as the Lebanese Artists Association, and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
